Hope this message find you well,
On Friday 30 January 2026, officers from Oldham Neighbourhood Policing Team 2 attended a residential address on Napier Street East in the Werneth area of Oldham following community intelligence suggesting that cannabis was being grown at the location.
Using police powers of entry, officers forced entry to the property and discovered a sophisticated and professionally set‑up cannabis farm, along with a dangerous electrical bypass. A modified off‑road motorcycle, swords, and various knives were also recovered from within the address.
A scene was established while enquiries were carried out, and Electricity North West attended to make the electrical bypass safe. The cannabis plants have been seized for evidential purposes and subsequently destroyed. Enquiries remain ongoing to identify those responsible.
Sergeant Tom Layton from the Chadderton and Werneth Neighbourhood Policing Team said:
“We acted on community intelligence relating to an address on Napier Street East in Werneth and made a significant discovery, with what we estimate to be over £50,000 worth of cannabis seized, alongside a number of weapons and a dangerous electrical bypass removed to protect the safety of local residents.
“We will always listen to the community and act on any information relating to drug activity. I want to thank the public for their support, which has led to a successful disruption of an organised crime group involved in the cultivation and supply of cannabis in Oldham. The Neighbourhood Policing Team remains committed to robustly tackling crime in Oldham and will continue to act on intelligence in the future.” | ||
